Alena Mikhaltsova won the DHL Impact Player award for Dubai as Russia finished up third overall in the opening round of the HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series 2018.

The 23-year-old put on a show for the packed out stands in Dubai and finished up six points clear at the top of the DHL Performance Tracker, ahead of Japan's Chiharu Nakamura who led the standings for the majority of the tournament.

It was a well balanced performance by Mikhaltsova who offered as much in defence as she did in attack. Twenty-two tackles, nine breaks, nine offloads and 21 carries gave the Russian star a total of 61 points. Elsewhere in the Performance Tracker, Canada's Brittany Benn topped the carries stat with 31, while Maria Perestiak of Russia led the tackles stat with 24.

The next round of the series will be in Sydney on 26-28 January.
