The Ghana Rugby ladies took the opportunity of Ghana's Independence Day to celebrate International Women's Day celebrated on March 8th.

According to Rafatu Inusah, Ghana Rugby Board Women's Representative, it was a great day for Ladies not only coming together to play and have fun but to discuss the way forward for Women's Rugby in Ghana.

Mr. Herbert Mensah, President and Board Chairman of Ghana Rugby, said that he was delighted about the event and that it underscores his and his administration's commitment to the cause of Women in Rugby.


Ghana Rugby also celebrated International Women's Day by hosting an International Women's Day Rugby 7S Cup. The Greater Accra Regional Association (GARA) organised a rugby 7S competition among some Get Into Rugby (GIR) Schools. Four schools and a total of 50 girls participated in the cup.

Mr Abdul-Aziz Issah, the President of GARA and a Board Member of Ghana Rugby Football Union was present impressed with the performance of the girls and said that the future is bright for Women in Rugby in Ghana.

It was a great day for these Girls as they celebrate International Women's Day.
