Padded clothing is governed by Regulation 12 and Law 4 and World Rugby Approved Test House contact details can be found here. Below are the steps to becoming a World Rugby Approved Clothing Manufacturer.

Please contact the World Rugby Technical Services Department for more information. 

  1. Manufacturer submits product samples to World Rugby Approved Test House where test house will provide information on what type and size of samples required. At least one sample of each model must be provided fully marked and labelled in an ‘as for sale condition’.
  2. Upon receipt of final test report from Approved Test House stating product meets all requirements the manufacturer will be sent Terms and Conditions and a letter of approval for the product which has passed the testing.
  3. Upon receipt of signed Terms and Conditions and letter of approval product will be added to the World Rugby Player Welfare website.
  4. Once above is complete manufacturer may order labels which must be sewn into all garments.
