France’s new all-time leading points scorer in test rugby, Frédéric Michalak, can look forward to his third Rugby World Cup after being named in Philippe Saint-André’s 31-man squad for England 2015.

Michalak passed Christophe Lamaison’s milestone of 380 points during Saturday’s victory at the Stade de France, taking his tally to 394 with five penalties and a conversion at the Stade de France.

And France head coach Saint-André says it is Michalak’s ability to kick goals that got him get the nod in favour of François Trinh-Duc who travelled to New Zealand four years ago as France’s first-choice No.10.

“We wanted to include three top goal-kickers and they were Michalak, Parra and Rory Kockott,” said Saint-André. “Trinh-Duc has worked hard on that aspect of his game, but in the end Michalak and Talès have been with the group more often than him and Talès is solid defensively.”

Michalak, who made his international debut in 2001 and will turn 33 during the tournament, appeared for Les Bleus in 12 matches at RWC 2003 and RWC 2007 combined.

France welcome Scotland to the Stade de France on 5 September in another warm-up match, before they begin their Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign against Italy at Twickenham on 19 September.
