In true Rugby Sevens style, we’re quick out of the blocks this week with our highlights from the last seven days.

Tweet of the Week

We have singled out this tweet about Carlin Isles and Perry Baker, two of the fastest - if not the fastest - rugby players on the planet. The accompanying video provides plenty of examples of them in blistering action on the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Quote of the Week

NZ U20s head coach Scott Robertson: "The All Blacks are number one in the world and the expectation is that the under-20s are as well. That’s the challenge for me as a coach."

Bad weather may have temporarily rained on the parade of the inaugural Oceania Rugby Junior Championship but the best young players in the world from New Zealand, Australia, Samoa and Japan will be in action on Saturday, 24 hours later than originally scheduled, as the countdown to World Rugby U20 Championship 2015 continues in earnest.

Match of the Week

Japan v Hong Kong in the Asia Rugby Championship at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium, Tokyo. The Brave Blossoms will be favourites to make it two wins out of two on Saturday following their round one success over Korea as their preparations for RWC 2015 continue apace. Hong Kong have not beaten Japan since June 1998 – a run of 14 straight defeats.

News of the Week

"…he drops for World Cup glory…it's up, it's over…he's done it… Jonny Wilkinson is England's hero yet again…"

Throwback Thursday: Jonny Wilkinson's drop goal
Jonny Wilkinson slots that drop goal at Rugby World Cup 2003, and this time we've got the radio commentary to go with it!

Ian Robertson’s broadcasting career will forever be remembered for the way he brilliantly captured the thrilling denouement to the 2003 final. While Wilkinson is a year into his retirement, Robertson is showing no signs of hanging up his microphone just yet, and the Scotsman could yet call another England victory after the news this week that the BBC have been awarded UK radio rights for RWC 2015.

Result of the Week

Trinidad ended a seven-year wait for the NACRA Championship title with a 30-16 victory over Mexico in Port of Spain last Saturday. Meanwhile, one half of the Caribbean islands most famous rugby-playing brothers, Steffon Armitage, could also be a winner too if Toulon complete a hat-trick of Rugby Champions Cup triumphs in this weekend's big European Cup showdown against Clermont Auvergne. 'Big' brother Delon is out injured so misses the match.

Video of the Week

This video was not ingested to the CMS via Brightcove and is therefore not supported.
Try Time Tuesday: Gethin Jenkins bulldozing
Gethin Jenkins scores a superb try, at pace for a prop in the Rugby World Cup 2011.

Props scoring international tries are as rare as a dull Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins post-match interview, which perhaps helps explain why our regular Try Time Tuesday slot has attracted a record number of views this week, with 320,000 visitors watching Wales’ Gethin Jenkins slip two tackles, burst through a gap and then bulldoze his way over the Namibian try line at RWC 2011.

Throwback Thursday: Pichot's emotional farewell after SA defeat
Argentina talisman Augustin Pichot breaks down into tears after his side's loss to South Africa in the Rugby World Cup 2007 semi-final

Don’t cry for me Argentina … closely following in Jenkins’ slip stream with 230,000 views is the Throwback Thursday feature, which focuses on Agustin Pichot’s emotional farewell after Los Pumas’ semi-final defeat at RWC 2007.

Stat of the Week

World Rugby U20 Trophy hosts Portugal have named 17-year-old centre Vasco Ribeiro in their 26-strong squad. Surely one of the youngest players to play at this level, Ribeiro will be 144 days shy of his 18th birthday when the tournament kicks off on 12 May.

Final whistle

Gordon D’Arcy is set to follow his long-time midfield partner Brian O’Driscoll into retirement at the end of Rugby World Cup 2015. An excellent servant of Irish Rugby, Gordon D’Arcy and his beard will be sorely missed when the time comes.
