The HSBC New Zealand Sevens was a tournament to remember for Fiji's Alasio Sovita Naduva. His most notable performance came in the final with some outstanding play and clinical finishing against South Africa ensuring he was named the HSBC Player of the Final.

The Fijian flyer came good in the final and showed just how dangerous he is as an attacking prospect. He possesses incredible skills and bags of pace which make him a nightmare to defend against. In his side's 24-17 Cup final win over South Africa, Naduva showed searing pace to take Kwagga Smith on the outside and get Fiji back into the game.

This was just one of three magic moments for Naduva, who bagged himself an incredible Cup final hat-trick, one which he most likely will never forget.

“It was a very good final for us. We saw a lot of hard work and team effort from my brothers and for all the Fijian supporters here today and at home,” said Naduva. “It’s an honour for me to win the HSBC Player of the Final award and gives me motivation to keep putting in the hard work for the next series.”

Fiji looked in fine form at the HSBC New Zealand Sevens and that was partly down to Naduva who was lively for the whole weekend. He scored four tries across the tournament and created countless other opportunities. Fiji coach Gareth Baber not only gave credit for Naduva's inspired attacking abilities but also his bravery in defence, something that perhaps not everyone would have noticed.

One thing is for sure, Naduva is the real deal and we're going to see plenty more of his brilliance on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in 2018.

The next round of the series be the USA Sevens in Las Vegas on 2-4 March.
