New Zealand’s lead at the top of the World Rugby Women’s Rankings will be down to a fraction under three points once they are updated at 12 noon on Monday, after England completed a 3-0 series whitewash of Canada with a 69-19 victory at Twickenham on Saturday.

It was the Red Roses' second win in the space of four days and will improve their rating by a third of a point, to take them on to 92.68 points, 2.98 behind the world champion Black Ferns.

After an emphatic 79-5 win in the first test, in which Jess Breach scored six tries on her debut, the Red Roses then beat Canada 49-12 in the second match at the Twickenham Stoop on Tuesday, clinching the series with a game to spare on the night captain Sarah Hunter celebrated her 100th cap.

And, on Saturday, the world’s number two side finished with a flourish at Twickenham, Breach continuing her fine form with a five-try haul to take her overall tally across the series to an incredible 11 from two games. Abbie Dow bagged a hat-trick while Marlie Packer and Ellie Kildunne, the youngest member of the Red Roses squad at 18, got the first and last tries of the night.

Despite leaving home with nothing to show for their efforts, a new-look Canada stay comfortably ranked in fourth, nearly seven points clear of neighbours USA.
