The eighth week of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 Trophy Tour has seen the branded Land Rover visit Ulster to not only stop off at schools and clubs, but also take in some of Ireland’s beautiful scenery and some iconic Game of Thrones locations.

On its way to Ulster, the trophy was paraded through Ardee as the local marching band and various clubs welcome the tour – which will visit all 32 counties in Ireland ahead of the 9-26 August showpiece event – to the town.

The trophy then moved on to stops in Dundalk, Belfast and the Kingspan Stadium for the PRO12 match between Ulster and Leinster on 6 May.

While it was in Belfast, Tourism Northern Ireland took the trophy to visit local radio stations as excitement builds in the city where the WRWC 2017 semi-finals and final will be played.

The Ulster Barbarians wheelchair rugby team played host to the trophy on Monday with Amy Fitzpatrick and Ulster and Ireland player Ilse van Staden trying their hand at one of the toughest variations of the game.

The trophy then headed for Donegal with visits to Inishowen, Letterkenny and Bundoran and a chance to savour the wonderful scenery on the Wild Atlantic Way – a perfect place for travelling fans to spend a few days this August.

The hugely popular Game of Thrones TV series is filmed on location in Ulster and the tour took the opportunity to visit some of the settings, including the Dark Hedges in Ballymoney from season two and Ballintoy Harbour in Antrim, which features in Theon Greyjoy’s return to the Iron Islands.

Game of Thrones’ fans may be eagerly awaiting season seven this summer, but rugby fans are counting down the days to Women’s Rugby World Cup with tickets selling fast so don’t miss out. Click HERE for more information.
