The Asunción Yacht and Golf Club will be the venue for the CONSUR South American Sevens tournament, which takes place this weekend, 28-29 January.

The tournament, which is being been played in Paraguay for the first time, will feature two pools of four teams, who will play pool matches on day one before going on to contest knockout games on day two.

Favourites Argentina, currently fourth in the IRB Sevens 2005/06 overall standings, will be sending their second-string side as their first-choice squad will be preparing for the next leg of the IRB Sevens circuit, in Wellington, New Zealand on 3-4 February.

The Pumas head Pool A, alongside hosts Paraguay, Colombia and Peru.

Uruguay, who will face Argentina in the pool stages of IRB Sevens USA a week after the Wellington event, head Pool B. They will face stiff competition from Chile, Brazil and Venezuela.

The top two in each pool at the end of day one will go through to the Cup semi finals. The bottom two will go into the Bowl semis.

Among the talent on show will be Argentina's Martín Bustos Moyano, who scored 10 tries for the Pumas during their first two IRB Sevens events this season, in Dubai and George, South Africa. The 20-year-old also featured in Argentina's squad in last year's IRB Under 21 World Championship, playing three times and scoring a try against Canada.
